Confidence in your Salvation

8 But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet. 9 For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Thess 4:8

What a wonderful hope we have in the one and only name of Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son who came to earth to lay down his life for us, and then, on the third day to raise it back up again, that all who believe upon him will likewise be raised to life and inherit the Kingdom of God with him.

For Jesus Christ came into the world not to condemn the world, but to save the world through him that all who believe upon his name, will inherit eternal life through the promise of God given through his Son. Long ago God planned this salvation in Christ Jesus, and worked through mankind promising the redemption to come to Eve at the fall of man in the Garden of Eden.

So the Lord God said to the serpent: “Because you have done this, you are cursed more than all cattle, and more than every beast of the field; on your belly you shall go, and you shall eat dust all the days of your life. And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel.” (Genesis 3:14–15)

And again he promised to Abraham he would provide the sacrificial Lamb for mankind providing a story of what he would do when he told Abraham to sacrifice his only Son upon the mountain of Moriah which is near the location of where Jesus would later be crucified.

Again God promised to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt he would not allow them to be killed but told them to place the blood of the Lamb upon their house signifying the wonderful covenant to come through the blood of the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ.

Again God promised to the people of Israel in the wilderness of Sinai, that their sins would be forgiven upon the sprinkling of blood upon the ark of the Covenant signifying the coming eternal forgiveness of sins through the blood of his one and only Son the Messiah Jesus Christ upon the ark of the Covenant of God.

Then God promised to David through Nathan in Deuteronomy 18, that through his descendants he will establish an eternal rule where the House of David shall stand forever signifying the coming of the Messiah Jesus Christ through the line of David on his mother’s side, who would raise up a kingdom that will be established forever.

Then the Lord God promised the people through the prophet Isaiah, 7:14 For this reason the Lord himself will give you a confirming sign. Look, the virgin is about to conceive and will give birth to a son. You, young virgin, will name him Immanuel.” And it surely came to pass. For the virgin gave birth to the Messiah, and his name was Emanuel. The wise men came from the East, and offered him priceless gifts. People from the north, south, and west came to hear him. He gave the gospel of the kingdom and brought light to the unsaved, healed the sick, and raised the dead according to the scriptures.

Then the Lord God promised in Zachariah 9:9 “Rejoice greatly, daughter of Zion!Shout, daughter of Jerusalem!Look! Your king is coming to you:he is legitimate and victorious, humble and riding on a donkey – on a young donkey, the foal of a female donkey.” And it was so. For Jesus the Messiah rode into Jerusalem on a donkey and was greatly welcomed and praised. Yet shortly thereafter he was mocked and crucified according to the scriptures, and was cut off from the land of the living, and from his people. But God placed upon him great honour and glory and he was raised to life and rose to heaven and sat down at the right hand of God till the time of mankind had come to completion.

And so since we are given so great and wonderful promises through the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, we have every reason to lay hold of his name in faith, upon all he has done for us, and place upon our head the helmet of our salvation.

For it was not man who told us that through his name is eternal life to all who believe, but it was God. And the Lord is immoveable in his promises and is the rock upon which we stand against which no gates of hell shall prevail.

Jesus is the rock of our salvation. If we build our house upon this rock, our house will remain standing in the storm. If we do not, then our house will not stand when the storm comes. Faith is what binds us together under Christ. If we have no faith in his name, then we have no rock upon which to stand firm.

God is not pleased with those who shrink back from his word of promise. If we do not take upon ourselves the armour of God which is the shield of faith, the helmet of the hope of salvation, the armour of God’s righteousness, and the sword of the Spirit, then we will surely be overcome by the arrows of the enemy. It is impossible to please God without faith. Salvation belongs to those who have faith. It is the faithful who will be saved.

So walk the path of faith as a disciple of the Cross. Do not shipwreck your faith by departing to deeds of sin and the darkness of this world. Going back under the bondage of sin that you were redeemed from when you first laid faith in Jesus Christ, will cause you to loose your firm footing, and your joy in the Lord and your hope of salvation.

If you fall to sin, do not despair and become despondent. Confess your sins to the Lord, and forsake them. He will give you mercy and wash you clean. If you fall do not remain in the darkness. Repent and come back to the light. Salvation is upon those who abide in the light, not upon those who abide in the darkness.

Stand firm in faith in Christ. Salvation is in his name, his blood, and those who remain firmly trusting in him will not be cast away. The just live by faith. We do not become saved by our own power to remove ourselves from our former ways rather we are saved through our faith in Christ and he then works within us the power to produce the fruits of faith and ability to exercise self-control and endure temptation. Those who remain in their sins fail the test of faith. Those who remain in sin do not have the redemptive power of Christ in them enabling them to walk the way that pleases God. They are yet to lay firm faith in the cross and go the Lord with a repented and contrite heart ready to receive his salvation.

Daily walk the way of faith allowing the power of the Lord direct your path. He will teach you the way and guide your path. There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ this way. According to your faith he will raise you up on the last day.

Do not allow the devil to trouble you through doubt and condemnation and instability concerning your salvation for we have all the promises of God throughout the ages revealing our salvation in Christ through our faith in his name. Beware that your hearts are not dulled by foolish living and unclean ways causing us to not take seriously the promises of the Lord and so shame the cross and the way of Christ among unbelievers. Do not be like those who lay claim to the cross yet have nothing to do with Christ. Their fruits show they love the world and prove their faith is false.

Pray to God for your soul to be counted worthy to escape the things to come upon this world, and to arise and stand before the Son of God unashamed. Have faith and believe in his coming, and he will take you.

Don’t listen to those who have not heeded the midnight call. They are like they are because they refused to listen and harken to the call of the Bride that went out, and so will not be part of his bride joining millions who have rejected the call. But for you who have been called to this worthy calling and have accepted the invitation, you know that this time will not catch you out by surprise like a thief as it will upon the unwatchful and the unsaved.

Press on upon the way of faith, knowing that you endure for a little while, then the Bridegroom will come and he will take those watching and waiting on him being found worthy.
